Before Your First Ride
Before you ride there are a few things you need to know or do.
Assemble your bike
Canyon ships their bikes mostly assembled with just a few parts you’ll need to assemble on your own. These are usually the handlebars, wheels, and seat post. You’ll need to attach the pedals as well, which may or may not be included depending on the bike and region.
Bed in your brakes
Be sure to follow the proper procedure for bedding your brakes before your first ride to guarantee the best braking performance.
Check caliper and derailleur alignment
Your bike should arrive with your brake calipers aligned as well as derailleurs indexed and any limit screws set, but sometimes shipping or quality control can lead to rubbing brakes, dropped chains, or poor shifting. If you’re not comfortable adjusting these yourself, Canyon may offer credit to have a local shop do it for you.
